Church Kitchen Guidelines

Stove: The main gas line switch (red knob) is behind the left side of the stove. To turn on the gas line, please turn the red knob so that it is aligned to the gas pipe. Then all 4 pilot lights on the stove should be lighted; otherwise gas leaks to the kitchen air. When cooking is completed, be sure to turn off the gas line by turning the red knob to position perpendicular to the gas line.

Rice Cookers: To use the rice cookers, the main gas line behind the stove must be turned on (see instructions under Stove). Also turn on the gas line behind the rice cookers. Both gas line knobs should be turned off after cooking is completed.

Dishes/pots:  Please wash all used dishes, pots, cooking utensils, etc; dry; place back in the cupboards and pantry in their original places in orderly manner.

Coffee percolators:  After washing, dry and place coffee pots in the pantry. Do not place them upside down; this causes the mechanical parts of the pots to rust.

Tea pots: The small tea pots in the cupboards are for serving beverages. They are not designed to be heated on the stove.

Dish towels:    Please try to dry dishes with dish towels (in the drawer) to conserve paper towels. Soak used towels in water and little Clorox (under the sink) in the bucket placed on floor to the left side of the sink. They will be periodically washed.

Aprons:  Please place used and unclean aprons on the corner of the kitchen counter. They will be periodically washed. Put only clean aprons back in the drawer.

Disposable dishes/utensils:  Please open new boxes only as needed. Use the plastic bowls for soups only, since they are more expensive than the Styrofoam bowls and dishes.

Recycle:  Place recyclable items in the bin on the left side of the sink.

Trash:  All trash should be bagged and placed behind the church building in the trash bin area.
