GETTING STARTED

There are varying levels of access depending on where a user falls on the diagram below.  The further down a user progresses down the hierarchy, the more he or she is able to access certain functions.

  • Visitors: People who are 'visiting', don't have a user account, and are able to browse through the site anonymously but nothing else.
  • Registered Users: People who have registered a user account HERE, have an associated email address, and a password.  You can change your password and associated email address by using the "User Menu" in the lower right-hand corner of the website.  You will NOT have access to the "Submit News", "Submit Weblink", or "Check-In My Items" functions until you have at minimum been promoted to the Authors user group.

  • Authors: Registered users who are able to post content, but not edit existing items or able to publish content to the website.  In order to have access to the formatting toolbar described Website Tutorial #4: How to add a new page, you need to have selected "TinyMCE WYSIWYG Editor" as the User Editor.

  • Editors: Registered users who are able to post content, and edit existing content on the website, but not publish content to the website.
  • Publishers: Registered users who are able to post content, edit existing content, and publish pending content to the website.

Congregation members having at least author access are able to:

  • Use the church forum.
  • Access content limited to the congregation, such as the church directory and past editions of the church newsletter.
  • Submit content to be reviewed and published to the website.

After a user registers the website will immediately send an email to the webmaster, who will  compare the name and email address submitted to that in the church directory, and approve it for current members and those who although reside elsewhere continue to be affiliated with the church.  Ministry team leaders are initially given editor access to facilitate editing of their ministry descriptions, and other users will be promoted as appropriate.
