A VISION FOR NEW HOPE FELLOWSHIP

New Hope Fellowship exists to behold and broadcast the majesty and mercy of God in the entirety of our lives, individual and corporate, unto the coming Kingdom of Christ.

    •    New Hope Fellowship exists… In saying this we are defining the nature of our society. This is not necessarily why New Hope was created nor a mere expression of what we desire it to become. It is a statement of what we believe is God’s call on this church. In articulating this, we subordinate all our private agendas toward this one vision. The following is who we are.

    •    to behold and broadcast… We are created and redeemed to worship God.   True worship is also evangelistic. Praise ascends vertically and expands publically. We cannot enlarge His infinite greatness, but we can broadcast our joy in it.  We want more of God to be seen by more people in more places. The church of Jesus Christ exists for this “missional” purpose. It is our heart to follow Jesus to seek and save those who were also created to worship God who currently feel nothing for Him. We have been privileged with this task of displaying in the dark the life of God in the light of Christ. This is what we do.

    •    the majesty… To say that we want people to come to a knowledge of God could easily be misheard in a fallen world. The glory of who He is remains unrecognized as the single most important reality in the universe. We take personal responsibility to change that. We want to show God for who He is in the awesomeness of His power and the all-encompassing nature of His rule. This is our goal.

    •    and mercy of God…  And yet it is this God, exalted Majesty, that comes to us in compassionate sacrificial love.  How should it be that we should enter boldly before His throne except through the righteousness of Christ given to us by faith alone? Whatever we accomplish, the cross forever stands as our reminder that everything comes to us and through us by a sacred mercy. This is our means.

    •    in the entirety of our lives…  We do not consider our evangelism restricted to speech nor our worship limited to song. The majesty of God radiates from every dimension of our lives. Simultaneously, the mercy of God is displayed because it is the Spirit of God who is transforming us from the depths of our heart, mind, and will. This is our method.

    •    individual and corporate… Therefore personal communion with God is essential. The life of Jesus is portrayed through the individual because Jesus is actually, and not just symbolically, resident in the believer. This is what identifies us beyond race, gender, class, or citizenship. We are all united to Him, and in Him we are united. As we join together in mutual love we are galvanized to accomplish one purpose: to show the world God in God’s people. This is our mechanism.

    •    unto the coming… We are a future-oriented community bound by hope in what is to come. The confident expectation of Jesus’ final return is the perspective that catalyzes us to think and act outside the box of this world. Our desire is to bring our lives in congruency with the future realm of God that has already begun to unfold in Christ. This is our time frame.

    •    Kingdom of Christ. The ministry of the Son of God did not have in view the saving of isolated individuals. The field of His vision was the saving of individuals unto a people of God that would claim the kingdom of God. It is this global enterprise to which God saves people, beloved by beloved. We offer our lives for that greater purpose of advancing His kingdom, which holds our ultimate allegiance. This is our worldview.

1Pet. 2.9   But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.  11   Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.  12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
2 Cor 3.18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
