This page attempts to answer questions congregation members may have about photos posted to the church photo gallery.

1. Why does the church have a photo gallery at all?  What kind of photos can I expect to see here in the future?

The church photo gallery helps members to revisit past activities, and share meaningful moments through digital media.  It is generally intended for church events.

2. Who is able to upload photos to the photo gallery?
"This is great!  Can I upload photos too?"

Because of some existing technical problems with the current process, uploading photos is limited to members of the communications ministry.  We do anticipate that in the near future, members of the congregation will be able to upload photos and create galleries directly.

3. If a congregation member feels a photo should be taken down, what is the process for doing so?
"It's wonderful that we have this thing, but that picture of me just ... makes me uncomfortable.  Can we take it out?"

Email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , and one of the ministry members will promptly remove any photos which are mentioned in your email.  Just remember to mention the photo collection and the filename of the photo.  You will receive an email confirmation afterwards.

4. What steps have been taken to ensure that personal photos, and especially children's photos, are not exposed to the public?
"All being said and done, I'd rather photos of my young child not be uploaded to the Internet."

The advantages and disadvantages of having a photo gallery have been extensively discussed, and much work has been done to ensure that only congregation members are able to access the photo gallery.  Each person who registers for a user account is compared against the church directory, and manually approved.  Photo collections are generally those of church events, and are concurrently reviewed by the Communications ministry, to ensure that only media of interest to the congregation as a whole are uploaded.

The congregation is blessed to have a vibrant and growing community of children, and among other things, the photo gallery is intended as a resource to help share photos of the children as they participate in Sunday School and worship activities.  At the same time, parents should ultimately be making the decision as to whether their children should be included in shared photos.  To request that photos of a child be removed, please email the communications ministry as above.

5. How long will photo galleries be available?

Each gallery should be available for at least a month, and possibly longer.  In the case that existing storage is inadequate, previous galleries may be deleted.

6. If I am able to contribute content, is there a limit to the number of galleries and photos I can upload?

Online storage is relatively cheap, so a photo collection of 20-30 photos should be fine.  If you are able to optimize your photos so that a picture isn't of disproportionately large size, that is helpful.  A photo of apprx. 600 kbs looks very good.  We are still trying to determine how much storage is needed to accomodate NHF's needs, if unsure, please email the webmaster.
